According to an official said, the number of foreign visitors to one of UNESCO World Heritage sites ,Sigiriya in Sri Lanka, has increased of 70 percent after the the Easter Sunday bombings on churches and hotels on 21st April 2019.
The Project Manager of Central Cultural Fund Sigiriya, Major Anura Nishantha says that more foreign tourists are visiting Sigiriya these days. According to him, it is more than 900 foreign tourists and more than 600 local tourists are visiting the famous rock fortress daily.And on the weekends, most of the local tourists visiting Sigiriya are from the North and East. Although the number of foreign visitors remain more or less the same, more than 2500 local tourists visit.
Furthermore, Major General Anura Nishantha emphasised that the safety of every local and foreign visitors to Sigiriya has been fully ensured at Sigiriya these days.
