Pinnawala elephant orphanage is the place which bears the largest herd of captive elephants in the world. Known as the captive breeding place for wild Asian elephants, this orphanage provides the shelter to diseased, wounded and disabled elephants since 1975. There are more than 80 elephants have gained their birth at Pinnawala elephant orphanage up to date. You can witness baby elephants & also adult elephants moving around freely without harming to anyone. Don’t miss the chance to watch the bottle-feeding time at 9.15am, 13.15am or at 05.00pm and bathing of the elephants at the river nearby at 10.00am to 12:00pm & 02.00pm-04:00pm. Nuwara Eliya Golf Club, founded in 1889, is one of the oldest golf clubs in Asia and probably the world. The 18-hole course, 6399 yards long, is a testing par 71 and is made up of long, narrow fairways, bordered by rows of towering eucalyptus trees and elegant cypresses, held together by dense acacia shrubbery. This was at one time an important link in the transportation route which supplied the Dutch colonial administration. you could get the historical experience while you are traveling by boat. The lagoon has extensive mangrove swamps and attracts a wide variety of water birds including cormorants, herons, egrets, gulls, terns and other shorebirds.
Muthurajawela is one of the major ecological wetland sanctuaries in Sri Lanka that has a vast bio-diversity. The region supports 192 distinct species of flora and 209 distinct species of fauna, including Slender Loris. Some of the identified species have been shown to be indigenous to the marsh. Birds are the dominant group of vertebrates in Muthurajawela. It consists of 102 species including one endemic. Of the total species, 19 migrants have been recorded. The mixture of vegetation types and aquatic habitats in Muthurajawela has made it an ideal eco-zone for a variety of birds.

An important regional Hindu temple complex in Sri Lanka, which has been in existence at least since 1000 CE, although myths surrounding the temple associate it with the popular Indian epic Ramayana.
