Sri Lanka Tourism celebrates World Tourism Day with foreign guests at Bandaranaike International Airport.

Sri Lanka Tourism on Friday celebrated World Tourism Day under the theme "Tourism and jobs: a better future for all" with several programs.

Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority along with other key institutions in the industry and under the guidance of the Minister of Tourism Development, Wildlife and Christian Religious Affairs John Amaratunga organized a special program at the Independence Square in Colombo to mark the World Tourism Day.

Speaking at the occasion Minister Amaratunga said the tourism industry in Sri Lanka recovered much faster than anticipated after the Easter Sunday attacks.

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau made arrangements to celebrate World Tourism Day at the Bandaranaike International Airport on Friday with the foreign guests visiting Sri Lanka.

A special ceremony was organized in front of Sri Lanka Tourism Travel Information Counter at the Bandaranaike International Airport throughout the day with cultural performance and serving of traditional Sri Lankan sweets for the arriving tourists.

Many tourists who arrived took part in the celebrations tasting the traditional sweets and enjoying Sri Lankan Dance. There were Dutch, Australians, British, German, Chinese and Indian guests among them. A larger groups of Fox Verre Reizen from Netherlands and Travel Marvel from Australia also participated.

Most of the tourists have visited Sri Lanka for the first time and expressed that they look forward to a great stay in Sri Lanka with the warm hospitality of Sri Lankans.
