HOT AIR BALLOONING
Enjoy the picturesque landscape at sunrise, as nature awakens to the first rays of the sun and to your planned 60 (approx.) minute flight. Add an exciting highlight to your holiday in paradise, hot air ballooning in Dambulla or Kandalama will prove to be a memorable experiences & adventure like no other. This is a great way to experience the exhilaration of flight with a bird’s eye view of the area below, a silent ride through the sky. The service is available From December to March.
You will be picked up from your hotel early around 04:45 am and driven to the boarding place of the Hot Air Ballooning. The support crew will start preparation and inflation of the balloon, briefing, take-off, flight (approximately one hour), landing/retrieval and the return by van. After the pilot’s briefing, you will rise into the air and float gently over the breath-taking plains of the Cultural Triangle.
Experience assisting the pilot and crew in preparing the balloon for take-off. Our experienced crew will help you assist in getting the 350,000cu foot envelope ready for inflation which is almost as memorable as the journey. Usually balloons flight makes for an unforgettable and breath-taking journey, float gently 1,000 - 2,000 feet from the ground totally in the hands of the winds, gracefully moving in the air. While in the air enjoy the breath-taking beauty from above and take as much photos and videos as you please. The Pilot will be happy to answer as many questions you may need to know about flying or the area.
Breathe in the wide-open spaces and enjoy extremely calm and panoramic views of predictable nature. Witness the spectacular sunrise across the Kandalama tank; watch the fisherman beneath; the mountains; the green forests; landscape dotted with many little man-made lakes, one might even spot an elephant near these tanks and the Golden Buddha sitting majestically on one end and Sigiriya in the distance on the other. Villagers of all ages calling out Good Morning and waving happily to the passengers as you fly over their homes and children following the balloon to the landing to collect their share of stationery.

Landing and then the endeavours of the retrieval by our ground crew together with the pilot, at his best, displaying the finer techniques of landings and manoeuvres. It’s all part of the flight experience. The final pack-up of the envelope and equipment plus lots of laughs and photos add to the memories.
At landing the flight will be toasted with champagne, there is also fruit juice and chilled bottled water. This is called the landing ceremony or socializing moment where complete strangers become friends.
When finished this dramatic and rewarding experience, head back to your hotel.
